TIBETAN SINGING BOWLS

The sound of Tibetan singing bowls which can be used on and off the body are intrinsically relaxing and calming to hear. Unike most traditional instruments, the singing bowl when stuck or played, emits or contains not only a fundamental core tone but also a complex series of powerful and layered harmonics and rich overtones creating a sound that is organic in nature. It is perhaps the organic nature of the sound that truly resonates with the organic nature of the listener when played, as used in my sound sessions.

CRYSTAL SINGING BOWLS AND CHIMES

Unlike the Tibetan bowls, the sounds emitted from the crystal singing bowls are very specific and the singularly pure tones which can be played around the edges to create a continuous tone or activated intermittently to create harmonic sequences with other bowls. Aside from the musical intervals that can be used to create specific effects such as the balancing ( interval of the perfect fifth) in the form of notes C and G, there are a number of major and minor triads which are believed to facilitate specific healing benefits especially when using these  pure specific tones.

TUNING FORKS

Bones are very good conductors of sound and vibration. Tuning forks and other sound instruments can be used directly on and off the body  in various ways to facilitate a number of healing benefits.

DRUMS

The deep tones of the drum such as the Remo drum I use are a great tool for grounding especially at the end of sessions and can be used to create a number of effects for the listener as have been used throughout the ages.

           GONGS

The transformational qualities of gongs were known to ancient cultures such as Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and  Persians. Some evidence suggests that  gong making was known as early as 4,000 B.C. and ancient alchemy sources put the gong as far back as 16,000 B.C.  Gongs are beginning to re-emerge as a much needed form of therapy that is known to be effective in triggering parasympathetic nervous system responses to help balance the over-amped, over taxed sympathetic nervous system states that so many of us find ourselves experiencing as a result of  the current fast pace of day to day living. The sound of the gong and singing bowls are thought to work on both physical and subtle energy realms.  Yogi Bhajan, the man largely responsible for bringing the use of the gong sound to the West in the seventies stated: "You have no resistance against this sound". It is the master sound, the adi naad. Everything you think becomes zero- the gong prevails"

HOW SOUND TRAVELS !

"The gong sounds include the structure of naturally occurring overtones or harmonics of the golden ratio which start from the fundamental note of the gong"- Tony Nec- Sound Healing Academy.

OTHER INSTRUMENTS

I use various instruments for various purposes. These include triggering relaxation, bridging the gap between sound and silence and helping to ground clients at the end of sessions and many more!
